Most localities around this area have some sort of recycling programs I know in my town of Garner NC we do.
The reason I say this is when I visit homes I notice some folks have only one recycle don’t put a lot of effort to making sure everything there is to recycle in the homes is put in the recycle bins.
There are a lot of places like gas stations, fast food places and other public places that do very little or no recycling. I see water bottles and plastic drink bottles thrown in the trash can by people cleaning out the car just putting everything in the trash and the business just throws the bag in the dumpster.
The US, on whole, is the WORST recycling country in the world. In most countries the amount of trash thrown out is less than one regular kitchen trash can and that is family of 4 or more.
I try to make sure and bring all my trash and recyclable home to put in the recycle bin. We fill up two curbside bins for pickup every two weeks and we are currently only 3 people in the house. (One at NC State and one heading to App State in fall.)
So the next time you go to put something in the trash can, ask is this recyclable? If you are not sure put it in the recycle container or go on line and find out. http://www.raleighnc.gov/services/content/SolidWaste/Articles/Recyclables.html
So with that said, I hope you will look at what you are putting in the trash and determine if it should go in the recycle bin instead.. You can get another recycle bin in most towns at no cost.. the less garbage they (your city) has to deal with the better they like it.
